helps build startup communities nationwide

(SEDALIA, Missouri)   Sedalia, the newest home of a national program to engage, educate and connect local entrepreneurs — 1 Million Cups, a product of the Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City, Missouri, will hold their first meeting on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 9 to 10 a.m. at State Fair Community College, Thompson Conference Center – A, located in the Heckart Science & Allied Health Center, 3201 West 16th Street, Sedalia, Missouri.

Entrepreneurs, innovators, funders and other interested community members are invited to attend this free, monthly gathering on the first Wednesday of each month.

The inaugural 1 Million Cups in Sedalia will feature six minute presentations by Smiling Mailboxes and LAG Industries, Inc., followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session with the audience.

Smiling Mailbox is based upon the premises that a child loves to receive mail; especially when the mail is personally addressed to her or him.  AND a child loves to learn; especially when the learning process is fun and entertaining.  Each Smiling Mailbox Postcard also links to a corresponding educational video on our website that further illustrates the topic presented on the postcard.

LAG Industries manufactures livestock equipment as in alleyways, tubs, chutes, continuous fence panels, portable panels, gates, feed bunks, calving and creep pens. They offer CNC plasma cutting, CNC plate rolling, and custom fabrication services.

This program is a result from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Task Force, created in response to the need for entrepreneurial development and support within our community.  The Task Force was created from the Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County Strategic Planning Session held in November 2014.
